Mirror, Mirror, on the wall.
We've all been there. At some point or another we've probably stood in front of a mirror gazing at ourselves. Some of us were confident in our looks, and others just found flaws in what they looked like. Well, I've got news for you:
You are fearfully and wonderfully made!
No kidding, you've got it right here in Psalms 139:14, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
Did you know that more than 40% of boys and 75% of girls in high school suffer from low self esteem? Yeah, it's a pretty alarming number. But what can we do about it?
First of all, we can't change the world if we don't begin with ourselves. Next time you look in the mirror, give yourself a compliment instead of a negative comment, it will make you feel way better.
But sometimes just telling ourselves we're pretty doesn't necessary patch up the hole, now does it? Some of us have been through bullying, or have been told plenty of negative comments about your looks, way of acting, or maybe even your way of speaking. It was really easy to listen to those people and let all of those negative comments flow into our minds and attack us when we least wanted them to.
Thing is, we can change that. We're beautiful, because we were made after the image of our Lord, but don't just take it from me, take it from the creator himself! Look back at our verse in Psalms 139:14, the Psalmist was inspired by God to write that Psalm and he made some really good points, we really are fearfully and wonderfully made, regardless of what others may say.
Hey, if it was so easy to listen to the people who told us we were ugly, how much easier will it be to listen to the creator of the world who loves us most and has loved us since before we were born?
If God made us (the perfect God) made us then who are we to think that he'd make us a flawed creation? Keep that in mind before you make a negative comment about God's precious creation in the mirror again.
Some good reads to keep you inspired:
John 3:16 (He gave his only Son for you!)
Genesis 1:27 (He created you in His image!)
Psalms 139:14 (Our key verse!)
