Cast Your Cares on Him!
Sometimes life throws us a curveball and we find ourselves staring blankly at what's to come ahead. We grow anxious, we grow weary, we grow tired and we lack that peace that only God can bring. I can speak from personal experience when I say that sometimes things happen and the only thing you can do is pray, but even so you still wish you could do more and it breaks your heart that you can’t.
In one particular occasion, not too long ago actually, I was praying for someone but felt this terrible uneasiness about the situation I was praying for. After a while, decided to open my Bible and look for verses that speak about peace, because only God and His Word could bring me the peace I needed in that moment. Interestingly enough, I stumbled across a verse in Philippians that reads,
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
That's when it hit me, through this verse, God tells me not to be anxious about anything, because he is the only one that can bring me peace. He always has His arms wide open for me to tell Him what troubles me and lets me know that “His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30) He lets me know that I can simply, “cast my burdens on Him.” (Psalm 15:22, 1 Peter 5:7) and simply “ask and it will be given to me.” (Luke 11:9, Matthew 7:7, James 1:5)
What a beautiful thing it is to know that I don’t have to be anxious about anything because the God who made the heaven and earth, and everything in the universe is watching out for me! If He takes care of the little birds in the sky and makes sure they have food to eat (Psalm 50:11, Matthew 6:26), why shouldn’t I trust that He'll always take care of me too? The beauty of his love for us—a people who do not merit it nor deserve it— is beyond human words. My heart swells with gratitude. ❤️
